Mama cat brings her kittens to clinic
In Izmir, a western city in Turkey, a mother cat perplexed health workers when she took the bold step to enlist the help of nurses to care for her ill kittens.
In a health care centre run by the local municipality in Karabağlar district of Izmir, a mother feline dragged one of her kittens into one of the office facilities. Just a day later, the mother cat brought in another kitten.
The health officers that were present at the time discovered that both kittens were ill with eyes full of infections. The staff handed the kittens to the veterinary department of the municipality after an initial care, the kittens were later treated and recovered before being put up for adoption, including their mother.
“We were familiar with this cat. She was a stray roaming nearby, and we used to give her food and water. We did not know she gave birth to kittens,” stated one clinical official.
The health care workers were on their normal routine when they noticed the cat which was “constantly meowing.” After a close inspection the health workers noticed that the kittens’ eyes were tightly closed.
“We gave them some drugs and they started opening their eyes and later, we transferred them to the veterinary department. It was the first time that an animal walked into our clinic, and it was a very emotional moment for us,” stated the health workers.
