MP Arama takes a stand against Matiangi impeachment plan
Over 90 Members of Parliament have added their signatures to endorse an impeachment motion against Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiangi.
Highly endorsed by Nyali MP, Mohammed Ali (Jicho Pevu) and a majority of Ruto’s supporters, the Matiangi impeachment plan is centred upon Matiangis failure to respect court orders, disrespecting Members of Parliament, inability to protect Kenyans in accordance to the constitution and deliberate misuse of his office.
Meanwhile, Samuel Arama, a Nakuru Town West Member of Parliament has come out to criticize the impeachment plan, stating that it has no grounds and was to defame Matiangi, in which Gusii leaders will not support.
“We have come together as Gusii MPs to strongly condemn the pending impeachment by Tangatanga MPs. This impeachment will not go anywhere,” stated Arama.
The Nakuru Town West MP, Arama, cautioned his fellow Members of Parliament against letting themselves to be misled by leaders and that other leaders are up to serving their own agendas.
“We should avoid some leaders who want to mislead us. Some Tangatanga MPs are being used to bring up issues that cannot take us anywhere as a country,” he said. “We are firmly behind our son. This impeachment has no grounds. As a community, we need to come together and condemn this matter in the strongest terms possible.”
The lawmaker affirmed that the matters stated in the impeachment documents are groundless as they had already been addressed by the courts, and the plans mainly to defame Fred Matiangi.
“The leaders have come out with issues to do with Ruaraka land and the killings within the National Police Service, but it should be clear that the Ruaraka land issue was addressed by the court a long time ago.
“Also, the CS is not in charge of the police. He is a policymaker in the ministry. The alleged crime within the police service should be addressed by the Inspector General of Police,” stated Arama.
